This is my spot for chicken steak. The portions are enormous and can be shared. They also specialize in Italian-Chinese fusion food. Check out this place if you're a fan of Hong Kong-style cafes.

They were so nice over the phone. Also, they were quick with our to-go order. The individual who rang up our order was kind enough to add soup to the order for my BFx2 at the last minute. The ambiance was love and clean. I highly recommend this place if you enjoy Cantonese food. I plan on going back.

My family and I had two portions of grilled chicken steak ($15.95) (with black pepper sauce and mushroom sauce) and seafood curry ($14.95). The grilled chicken steaks come as large portions, and we had leftovers. The chicken tasted very delicious and made me feel nostalgic since I haven't eaten this dish in a long while. The black pepper sauce tasted savory, but the mushroom sauce tasted unfortunately bland. With a bland flavor, the mushrooms tasted worse off. The grilled chicken steak dishes came with mashed potatoes, corn, and broccoli. I liked how they sautéed their broccoli, but the mashed potatoes had a subpar texture and flavor. The seafood curry tasted delicious and spicy. We'd have our dishes again, but Garden Bistro had such a large menu that I'd rather explore other options. The pizzas definitely caught my attention, and I'd come back to try the fusion-style dishes. The ambience and service were fine, but nothing impressed upon me that this restaurant goes above and beyond in these areas.

Ah gone are the days of my childhood with the old Garden Cafe of Rowland Heights, but I'm glad there's at least Garden Bistro. It's the same owner as the old Garden, so at least there's commonalities. The food is old school Hong Kong Asian and Western fusion food, dating back to when Hong Kong was a British colony. Most of us with immigrant parents from Hong Kong are accustomed to this kind of cuisine. This hit the spot. We came as a party of 5, which included my parents, my husband, and our 15 month old. Service was extremely friendly. Without asking, we were given a booth to accommodate the baby. We ordered baked Bolognese, 2 orders of the fried chicken steak with spaghetti, seafood curry, and oxtail stew. For an extra $3.50 my husband added a milk tea with his meal which comes with one free refill. Everything was delicious. We pretty much demolished everything. The Bolognese is as flavorful and guilty as I remember. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We love mixing the extra spaghetti with the Bolognese sauce. The chicken plate also came with zucchini, corn, and mashed potatoes. The curry was flavorful and the oxtail stew was amazing. Unlike the old days you don't get a complimentary bowl of soup with your orders anymore; you have to pay extra. While it's not exactly the Garden Cafe from my childhood, it is a close rendition with similar foods that my whole favorite enjoy. And now my baby and husband enjoy it too.
